The Brewery
The brewery was started in 2008. In addition to modern micro-brewing, they have kept alive the Trøndelag brewing tradition with their own traditional malt and farmhouse ale — a commitment that eventually led to both their own farm malting facility and whisky production.
Beer tasting and multi-course beer dinners with selected pairings are a popular offering for groups and businesses.
Jørn has a desire to maintain the craft aspect of the brewing process by, among other things, drying the malt in his own såinnhus (traditional malting house).
The collaboration with Bonsak farm malting facility makes Klostergården one of very few breweries in Norway that uses only Norwegian-grown grain in beer and whisky production.
Alstadberger was awarded the first Spesialitet (Specialty) label to a Norwegian beer in 2014.
